It is 2012, which means time to start contributing to your IRA’s. I have made a few portfolio adjustments because of more certainty in future events. I am applying to other colleges, namely UT-Austin, Auckland University, and Lincoln University (NZ). This means that I will have to use a large part of my portfolio money to pay for college. Because of this, I have decided not to jump into riskier International assets yet. I have also applied for several summer jobs as a camp counselor, and jobs for Purdue’s Student Security Patrol and Computer Lab Assistant. If this money doesn’t go towards a plane ticket to New Zealand, it will go into my portfolio. I have been studying asset allocation and building an asset allocation plan for myself. Until my situation is more stable (when I know what I have left after paying for college) I will not implement it.
I moved my Windsor II fund over to my STAR Fund (both Vanguard) because the STAR Fund is diversified, and Windsor II was a Large-Cap only fund. Before this, about 50% of my portfolio was US Large-Caps. I will update my portfolio on the side as soon as all transactions are complete.
